Uploading a profile photo

Add, change, or remove your profile photo.

Written by Austin Bouley

Your profile photo appears in the navigation bar and on your settings page.

Adding a photo

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. In Profile Information, click Select A New Photo.

  3. Choose an image from your device.

  4. Click Save.

Requirements

  • Format — JPG, JPEG, or PNG

  • Maximum size — 3 MB

Square images look best, since the photo is displayed as a circle. A rectangular image will be cropped to fit.

Removing your photo

Once a photo is set, a Remove Photo button appears. Removing it reverts to the default avatar showing your initials.

Common problems

Your file is rejected — check the format. HEIC photos from an iPhone are a frequent culprit; convert to JPG first, or change your iPhone camera setting to "Most Compatible" under Settings → Camera → Formats.

The file is too large — anything over 3 MB is refused. Most phone photos exceed this. Resize or compress it, or take a screenshot of the image and upload that instead, which is usually much smaller.

The old photo still shows — your browser has cached it. Refresh the page, or clear your cache if it persists.

If you use Google sign-in

Your Google profile photo is used automatically when you first sign in. You can replace it here at any time, and your choice will stick.
