Disconnecting a brokerage account

How to revoke access to a connected brokerage, and what to do first.

Written by Austin Bouley

You can revoke our access to any connected brokerage account at any time.

Do this first

Disconnecting stops us from managing the account — but it does not close any positions that are already open at your brokerage. Those positions stay exactly where they are, and they become your responsibility to manage directly.

If you want your positions closed, close them before you disconnect. You can do that from each system's trade history, or manage them yourself at your brokerage afterward.

How to disconnect

  1. Go to Brokers in the sidebar.

  2. Click More options on the account you want to remove.

  3. Select Disconnect.

  4. Type delete in the confirmation box, in lowercase, exactly as shown.

  5. Confirm.

The typed confirmation is deliberate — it's there so an account can't be removed with a stray click.

What happens to your systems

Any income system running on that account stops. If you reconnect the same account later, you may need to redeploy your systems and set your allocations again.

Just pausing for a while?

If you want a temporary break rather than a permanent disconnection, pausing your subscription is usually the better option — it stops your systems from trading while keeping your connections and configurations intact. See Pausing your subscription.

If disconnecting fails

You may see "Unable to disconnect the broker account. Please try again." This is usually a temporary issue reaching your brokerage. Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps failing, contact support — and note that you can also revoke third-party access directly from your brokerage's own security settings.
