Delete your Self Operating Brokerage account

Permanently delete your Self Operating Brokerage account and app data. Not the same as disconnecting a brokerage.

Written by Austin Bouley

What this is

Delete Account permanently deletes your Self Operating Brokerage login and the data stored in our software. It exists mainly for compliance (including international legal requirements).

This is not the same as disconnecting a brokerage account. Disconnecting only revokes our access to one broker. Delete Account removes your SOB account itself.

What this is not

  • Not disconnecting a brokerage. That lives under Brokers and only removes one connected broker from the app. See Disconnecting a brokerage account.

  • Not closing your brokerage. Your TastyTrade, Schwab, or other brokerage account stays open. We do not hold your money. To close the brokerage itself, contact that broker.

  • Not a normal cancel. Cancelling membership keeps access until the end of your current billing period and retains your account history. See Cancelling your subscription.

  • Not a refund. Delete Account cancels billing going forward. It does not issue a refund. If you want a refund first, use Requesting a refund.

How to delete your Self Operating Brokerage account

  1. Go to your profile / account settings: https://my.selfoperatingbrokerage.com/user/profile

  2. In the Log Out section, choose Delete Account (the red button next to Log Out).

  3. Type this confirmation phrase exactly: Delete permanently. I know this cannot be undone

  4. Choose Delete Account again, then confirm Yes, Delete Permanently on the final warning.

The typed phrase and second confirmation are deliberate so this cannot happen with a stray click.

What gets deleted

When deletion succeeds:

  • Your Self Operating Brokerage account and login are removed.

  • Connected brokers in the app, systems, trades, and trade history in our software are deleted.

  • There is no way to restore the account or get that trade history back.

  • Active subscriptions are cancelled immediately (billing stops).

  • You are signed out.

Your open positions at the brokerage

Delete Account does not close positions at your brokerage. Anything still open stays in your brokerage account for you to manage.

If you want positions flat before you delete, close or manage them first (in the app, or directly at your brokerage).

When to use delete vs cancel vs disconnect

  • Delete Account — you want your SOB data removed from our software permanently (compliance / right to erasure style request). Irreversible.

  • Cancel — you want to stop renewing but keep access through the end of your current billing period. See Cancelling your subscription.

  • Disconnect a brokerage — you want to stop us managing one broker without wiping your SOB login. See Disconnecting a brokerage account.

  • Pause — temporary break. See Pausing your subscription.

If deletion fails

You may see that we could not delete your account (for example if billing could not be cancelled cleanly). Try again, or contact support. Do not assume the account is gone until deletion succeeds and you are signed out.
