Changing your system settings

Editing settings, when changes take effect, and common errors.

Written by Austin Bouley

Every system's settings can be changed at any time from its detail page.

How to change settings

  1. Open the system from the Systems page.

  2. Adjust the settings you want to change.

  3. Click Save.

Changes are not saved automatically. If you adjust a setting and navigate away without saving, it's discarded. A confirmation appears once your changes are stored.

When changes take effect

Settings apply to new positions. Trades already open continue under the rules they were opened with.

So if you tighten your stop loss, existing positions keep their original stop. If you remove a symbol from Wheel Paycheck, open positions in that symbol are still managed to completion — it just won't open new ones. To act on an existing position immediately, close it manually.

Check the Rules section

After saving, read the Rules section on the same page. It describes in plain language what the system will now do. If that description doesn't match your intent, you've changed something you didn't mean to.

Common problems

A number is rejected — it's outside the allowed range for that setting. The error names the limits.

"Select at least one Approved Symbol" — Wheel Paycheck needs at least one symbol. It can't run with none.

"One of the selected symbols is no longer available" — a symbol you had selected has been withdrawn from the approved list. Deselect it and save again.

"Unable to save settings. Please try again." — a temporary issue. Your previous settings remain in force. Retry, and contact support if it persists.

Reviewing past changes

The Settings History section shows previous configurations. If performance shifted after a change, this is where you check what you altered and when.

Turning a system off

Use the enabled toggle and save. The system stops opening positions. Anything already open stays at your brokerage and is no longer managed — including profit targets and stop losses. If you have open positions, close them first or plan to manage them yourself.
